Zoom is the video conference and screen sharing tool that we use for online lessons. You’ll be able to see & hear your instructor as well as share screens, share links, and record your lessons.
Zoom sessions are private so only you and your instructor will have access.
Before your first session
You should download and familiarize yourself with Zoom before our first appointment. That way we won’t waste any time when your lesson starts.
Download Zoom
You can download Zoom directly from this link: https://zoom.us/support/download. If that link doesn’t work, you can install the different versions here:
- Mac version of Zoom
- Windows version of Zoom
Download error: certain computers have privacy settings that might prevent your download. If you see a message like this, please click to advance.
Install Zoom
Now that you’ve downloaded Zoom, please install it by finding the install file in your downloads folder and double-clicking on it.
- Mac users: look for zoomusInstaller.pkg
- Windows users: look for ZoomInstaller.exe
Then follow the on-screen instructions and you’ll end up with Zoom’s app installed on your computer.
Note: Mac users might see a message preventing installation, which you can resolve by changing your Security & Privacy Settings in your System Preferences.
Do I have to log in to Zoom?
Nope! Once you’ve installed Zoom, it will automatically prompt you to Join a Meeting or Sign In. Click Join a Meeting and you’re all set.
Joining your session
At your scheduled lesson time, click on the Zoom link in your confirmation email. Bookmark this link for the future–your link will be the same every week.
When you click Join a Meeting, it will automatically launch Zoom and open your meeting room.
Make sure your camera and microphone are enabled (bottom left hand corner) and get ready to rock!
