The whole shebang (Full Bio) –
Leanne Regalla is a performing songwriter with a refreshing approach that’s a fun mix of naughty and nice. She plays upbeat, summer-inspired tunes that make you laugh and dance at the same time. Her lyrics will surprise you and her memorable melodies will have you humming her songs long after the show.
Is her music for you?
Leanne’s sound has been compared to Natalie Merchant, Jewel, and Mary Chapin Carpenter, with a snarkiness reminiscent of Sara Bareilles or Alanis Morissette.
Her music and stories are humorous, inspiring, and thought-provoking all at the same time. They are about life, but with a twist. A little like seeing through kaleidoscope glasses.
Leanne says, “If you enjoy my songs and laugh even a little, I’ve done my job. If you come away feeling inspired to pursue your own dreams, whatever they are and whatever your constraints may be – then I’ve definitely achieved my goal. If you come back and bring your friends then I am truly humbled and appreciative.”
About the tunes
In “The Good Life” (2016), Leanne comes into her own as a musician and songwriter. The latest tunes are more pop rock inspired, shareable, and internet radio-ready. She adds the sparkle of ukulele and mandolin as well as acoustic and electric guitar to round out songs like the rockin’ Me Too, the casual summer feel of the title track, and the enchanting childhood reminiscence of Magical. Included are two more rock/pop love songs by Bob Banerjee and some instrumental ditties purely added in for ear candy. The album includes 10 tracks plus a bonus, the bluesy kids-of-all-ages sing-along Top Dog.
“Reluctant Rockstar” (2011) is Leanne’s first full-length original CD. The title is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the hesitation and doubts that many artists have about getting their work out into the world in a big way. The CD includes 7 songs penned by Leanne herself, including one instrumental, and one original written by local songwriter Bob Banerjee. The overall tone is light, with a couple touching and very relatable ballads thrown in.
Leanne’s original music also appears on a compilation project that she completed with 13 other very talented musicians and writers from around the world. “Under The Same Sky” (2008) is a tribute to the shared goals that unite people from very different backgrounds in one common and very cool musical project.
